Teaches middle-school students self-respect and respect for others, while celebrating each other’s differences, and helps them identify methods to build inclusive school environments.
POLICE & YOUTH TOGETHER
Offered in collaboration with area law enforcement agencies, PAYT is an intensive summer week long day camp with a year of follow-up activities, for students ages 10-13 from diverse communities. PAYT builds bridges between police and youth and their family, teaching respect and appreciation of differences. PAYT helps to create inclusive, peaceful communities. PAYT is offered in a regional model, as well as a newly adopted week long neighborhood format.
Teen Summit is a Bi-Annual event bringing over 200 youth from across the region together to discuss current topics relating to DEI. This day-long event covers themes such as “Leveling the Playing Field: How Diversity Intersects with Mental Health” to give students an interactive look into diversity, and how it may effect them.
“Students Promoting Inclusion, Diversity and Equity through Education” is a youth leadership program that prepares high school students to be leaders in their school and role models to younger students. High school students are taught facilitation skills on topics including team building, communication skills, and diversity. They use these skills to provide day long workshops in the elementary schools. This program helps build community, positive relationships and coping skills that create students who are prepared to face challenges that they may encounter throughout their life.
Village Impact Project (VIP)
The Village Impact Project (VIP) helps facilitate mentorship between adults and youth of Yellow Springs. Our goal is for the program to become an integral part of the community through activities, fundraisers, and community service opportunities.
